ABOUT
IDD Therapy is a non-surgical spinal decompression treatment for unresolved back pain, neck pain and leg pain, in particular disc related problems such as sciatica.
It uses computer-controlled pulling forces to gently distract target segments of the spine taking pressure off specific discs and the related trapped nerves as well as relieving muscle spasm.
By decompressing an injured or bulging disc and stretching the soft tissues, IDD Therapy aims to improve mobility in the spine and allow the body’s natural healing mechanisms to operate more efficiently.
During your IDD Therapy program the practitioner will continue to monitor your condition every step of the way and will supply an exercise program tailored to you to help you strengthen your back and help you stay healthy. Exercise and activity are an important part of long-term rehabilitation.
The result is long term pain relief from nerve compression and irritation, muscle spasm caused by the intervertebral disc or spinal degeneration.

How is the IDD Therapy treatment program structured?
- Patients are fully assessed before embarking on a course of IDD Therapy.
- The assessment involves a review of a current or recent MRI scan
- The therapist may refer you for an MRI scan should you lack one
- IDD Therapy is a gentle and safe treatment delivered by the Accu-Spina Machine.
- Sessions begin with infrared heat therapy technology to prepare the muscles and ligaments.
- Patients wear ergonomic harnesses around the pelvis and upper back – the machine tilts from vertical to horizontal so patients can get on and off of the bed without further pain or difficulty
- Once the patient is fully harnessed and comfortable, a series of computer-controlled pulling forces are gradually applied at precise angles to gently distract the vertebrae surrounding a target disc. Patients remain completely relaxed during the 26 minute session on the IDD Therapy machine.
- At the end of the session cold therapy is applied to minimise temporary soreness which may be caused by muscles being worked in a new way.
